Cryptologic gives us in Storm the Castle a slot machine with a theme that I don’t remember seeing before in a 3 reel title. This classic slot machine takes the Medieval theme and does a great job at creating an experience for the player that involves knights and shields. Even though the special themed design is restricted only to the backgrounds of the reels and the paytable, it does a lot to make this game appealing, especially since the rest reminds you of a typical pub slot.
As every classic title does, Storm the Castle also offers only 3 reels, with 1 payline being placed in the middle. You can win up to $6,000 from it, with a bit of luck and a decent wager, but you don’t get features of any kind as you play.

Betting options and jackpots
With one payline at your disposal, there isn’t an option to use fewer lines, but instead you get the opportunity to select between 1 and 3 coins for your bet. All the coins are used on that one line, so prizes get better when you maximize the wager. There is also the coin denomination to consider, with the largest value being $5, while at its lowest it will be worth $0.25. A wager of up to $15 can be placed in the game.
The result will be a top payout of 1200 coins, but only if the 3 coin wager was selected. A lower number of coins means a smaller top payout, though it remains a 400x multiple of the bet. Cash wise, the top jackpot has a maximum value of $6,000.
Design and symbols
It might look like a classic on the outside, and an ugly one at that, but the actual game and paytable areas look Medieval and they appear to be appropriately themed. Mixing orange, green and blue at the top, with images of armored knights and shields, the paytable is the one that looks best. A close second is the area with the reels, with the image of a castle siege placed behind them.

Is It Worth Playing?
I didn’t expect it, but for a classic slot this isn’t a bad choice graphics wise. It might still retain the outer design of the typical casino slot, but its game area actually looks Medieval and attractive.
