Flying Ace is a Microgaming classic slot, with a theme that is inspired by the fighter plane pilots of World War I. Wearing vintage leather helmets and dressed in padded leather jackets, these pilots took to the skies in flimsy aircraft in which they were exposed to the elements and fought against enemy fighter planes. The design would be one of the things I love most about Flying Ace, as it shows that a lot more attention was paid to it than usual.
The slot has a total of 3 reels, and on them up to 5 lines can be used. The wild symbol would be the only feature that you get, but it will also be the one to give you the $30,000 jackpot.
Features of Flying Ace
The Pilot is the symbol that gets to act as the wild feature in Flying Ace. He does look like a pilot of the times, dressed appropriately, grinning and sporting a thin moustache. As it acts as a wild, its presence on a line with one or two symbols will give you a good chance to complete a combination and get paid.
Three of these Pilots will create their own combo when they take over an entire line, but the payout will vary depending on the exact line you land on. The higher lines are the ones that pay better, up to 6,000x.
Betting options and jackpots
Since 5 lines are offered by the game, you are allowed to select a maximum of five, but you can also choose only one or two if you want to. Each line you activate will need its own coin, whose denomination will be between $0.25 and $5. With all five lines active and with the highest denomination selected, the wager reaches $25 per round.
The 5th line, when it holds the combo of three Pilot wilds, will reward you with 6,000 coins ($30,000). The other four lines each offer a different payout, the smallest one being obtained through the first line, which gives only 1,000 coins.
Design and symbols
The airplane inspired theme shows you the metal that the airplane was made out of, with some bullet holes spread all around the logo area. The reels are there as well, simple ones like in every other classic slot. The paytable would be the one on the right, with both themed and regular icons on them, but they all look the part and they’re at least colored as they should be.
Symbols: Pilot (6,000 coins, wild), Pin-up Girl (300 coins), Three Red Bar (100 coins), Two Blue Bar (50 coins), One Olive Bar (20 coins) and A Logo (10 coins).
Is It Worth Playing?
I enjoyed playing it, and even though it’s similar to many other slot machines, its design is unique and its top payout is quite generous.
You will find Flying Ace at any online casino which chooses to use software from Microgaming, playable either for free or for real money.
