Zuma is a Gamesys slot machine, where the action takes place on a Pacific island jungle and with the symbols used being a mix of idols of long lost civilizations and playing cards which are themed in a Maori style design. It’s an attractive game, but the theme implementation doesn’t differentiate it enough from other slot machines, so it doesn’t feel like a must play title when you first look at it.
Like many other games coming from Gamesys, it has 25 paylines on the 5 reels. You can place bigger wagers than usual, but you can also win up to $250,000. The features are wilds with very big multipliers and scatters which bring you free spins.
Features of Zuma
The game has a couple of features that you will find in many other slots, starting with the wild, the scatter symbol and then the round of free spins. The truly special part here would be the multiplier that the wild can apply.
The Zuma Logo is the game’s wild feature. Whenever you have this symbol on the reels, you can hope for one of two outcomes. The more common one is where the wild takes part in the formation of combinations, by substituting for whatever symbol is missing. You need the rest of the matching symbols to be there already, otherwise the wild can’t help out. The truly valuable part would be the multiplier which can be added by the wild to the win, going as high as 10x if you’re lucky. Wilds also form combinations directly, with up to five Logos on the same line managing to give away up to $250,000 cash.
Free Games Feature
The slot has a scatter symbol as well, with a Frog Idol on it. This scatter will not offer a prize, but instead it will give you access to the free spins.
You are taken to a new screen, where you use a frog to shoot at a Tiki Boss of your choosing, a total of four being present. You get a number of free spins in return. You play the free spins, and at the end you get to shoot at a Tiki Boss once again, this time to find out what kind of multiplier will be used on the prizes you’ve won.
Betting options and jackpots
The betting options are the ones from the bottom left. Stake/Line allows you change the value of the coin basically, from $0.01 to $25. Lines is used to change the number of active paylines, from 1 to 20. You can see in the Stake display how much the wager is total, the maximum being at $500.
The game will offer as much as $250,000 for the top jackpot, which means about 10,000 coins. It’s a good prize, but not unheard of, other slots offering even 15,000x or more.
Design and symbols
The jungle is visible behind the reels, while the game area feels like it’s part of some temple that was left behind by an ancient civilization. The theme is based on the civilizations that lived on the Pacific islands, with Tiki bosses being part of the game and used as symbols, designed in the style in which the Maori used to create the statues. The game looks like a South American style game though, so it doesn’t feel different enough from the competition, despite the rather unique choice of theme.
Symbols: Zuma Logo (10,000 coins, wild), Frog Idol (scatter), Multi-colored Tiki (500 coins), Brown Tiki (250 coins), Yellow Tiki (200 coins), Blue Tiki (150 coins), Gray Tiki (150 coins), Ace (50 coins), King (50 coins), Queen (50 coins), Jack (50 coins), 10 (50 coins) and 9 (50 coins).
Is It Worth Playing?
It’s the only slot machine that I know of, which deals with Tiki statues and with the Pacific lost civilizations, instead of focusing on other more known areas of the world. It’s not different enough from other slots, but I still believe it’s worth a look.
This Zuma slot is offered by all online casinos with Gamesys software, playable either in practice or in real money mode.
