Atlantis is one of the many slot machines that were realized with a lot of inspiration taken from Atlantis, a long lost city that was supposed to be inhabited by an advanced civilization. Its exact location isn’t known, though plenty have tried guessing it and diving under the ocean’s surface to locate it. Microgaming is responsible for this particular slot machine, a classic title with a focus on the treasures that Atlantis is supposed to have inside its walls. You see both fallen buildings and treasure chests filled with gold in the slot’s graphics.
A wild symbol with a multiplier are the only two features that were added to the 1 line and 3 reels that Atlantis has to offer. There is also that $8,000 top jackpot to get people to come play it, but it’s hardly impressive.
Features of Atlantis
A game like Atlantis, which has only a couple of reels and a single line, will often come without any features onboard. It’s not the case here fortunately, with the slot coming with a single wild symbol, which also has a multiplier attached.
Whenever a wild symbol takes a spot or two on the payline, there is a chance (in the case of one wild) or a certainty (for two wilds), that a combination will be formed. You need two other matching symbols when a single wild contributes, and the payout of that combination will be 2x the usual amount. With two wilds contributing, whatever symbol appears in the third spot will determine what symbols they substitute for. Also, the multiplier will be 4x when both wilds are in place.
The same wild Treasure Chest gets you the top jackpot, if all the positions of the payline are occupied by it.
Betting options and jackpots
The number of coins allowed for that one line of the game is either 1 or 2. The denomination is something you can work on some more though, its range being $0.01 to $5. A $10 maximum bet is possible.
As for the prizes, the wild symbol is the one that awards the best one, worth 1,600 coins, or $8,000.
Design and symbols
I’m guessing that you’re not going to be impressed when you see the graphics offered by Atlantis, but it’s not something you should be expecting from a classic title anyway. It’s not exactly ugly, but it’s an older style of graphics which isn’t used in more recent titles. The background picture displays the ruins of Atlantis, along with a treasure chest filled with gold coins, plus the schools of fish roaming around. The rest of the symbols are a combination of classic and Atlantis or ocean themed images.
Symbols: Treasure chest (1,600 coins, wild), Seahorse (200 coins), Three Bars (100 coins), Two Bars (50 coins), Pearl (40 coins) and One Bar (20 coins).
Is It Worth Playing?
It’s not necessarily a bad game, but I wouldn’t choose it over one of the many other slots that Microgaming did a better job with. The features are nothing special, the design is a bit boring and the payouts are too small.
This Atlantis slot is offered by all online casinos with Microgaming software, playable either in practice or in real money mode.
