Galacticons is a sweet looking Microgaming slot, with a theme that deals with adorable little aliens, of all colors, shapes and number of eyes. The action takes place somewhere in our galaxy, the betting options looking like they’re part of the ship’s console, while the reels are placed on the main screen, with the stars behind them. The sci fi theme certainly seems to work in this case, it’s a great looking game.
The theme isn’t the only part that is attractive in Galacticons, this being a modern slot with 5 reels and 243 ways to win. The Big Bang feature with its free spins and black hole symbols is a big part of the attraction, along with scatter symbols and wilds that apply multipliers. Features of Galacticons
The game has features that you would expect from it, so nothing to be truly excited about, but they’re still solid options, like the wild symbol that has a multiplier, or the scatter symbol that has both some impressive prizes and free spins to give you.
The Milky Way is shown in the symbol that acts as the wild, a beautiful blue galaxy that you will always be happy to see. It might not be able to give you prizes with its own combinations, but often enough it will act as a substitute and it will also multiply a prize when it is awarded with its help, by 2x. The Sun and Black Hole scatters are the ones that don’t benefit from the wild’s presence, but all regular icons will take advantage.
The Sun is the scatter, and the one that will give you both regular prizes and rounds with free spins. The regular prizes require the same number of symbols as the free spins, between 3 and 5. The rewards vary between 2x and 100x the value of the bet.
Big Bang Feature
The Big Bang feature is the one that will bring you the free spins in this game, and it will be triggered by a minimum of 3 Sun scatters. You receive 10, 15 or 20 spins, for 3, 4 or 5 Suns, respectively. They can be in completely random positions, and not just because the game uses ways to win, but because they are scatters for a reason.
For the duration of these spins, you will get a Black Hole symbol. It moves randomly to another spot during each round, replacing the symbol found there and acting as a wild for all regular symbols. The reason for this Black Hole is that it will capture alien or ship symbols that are in its vicinity. For each of these symbols that is captured, there will be a prize between 1x and 5x the bet. If there is a Sun symbol nearby, it will grant you one extra free spin. As for the Milky Way symbols, if they get captured during one round, they will double the value of prizes obtained during that particular free spin.
Betting options and jackpots
Though 243 paylines exist in the ways to win system that is employed, you place the bet on 30 lines, with up to $5 on each one. These line wagers use 1 to 10 coins and the denomination goes between $0.01 and $0.50. The maximum wager in Galacticons is $150.
The top reward is going to put 3,000 times the line bet in your pocket. That’s about 30,000 coins, or $15,000.
Design and symbols
The game’s graphics are impressive, certainly above average even for a developer like Microgaming, who is well known for the quality of the slots it creates. The fact that space is visible behind the reels, and looking gorgeous, can only improve the design of Galacticons, plus the aliens that are used as symbols are incredibly cute and fun to look at. The betting options area is designed to look futuristic and appear like it’s part of the cockpit. Overall, a game I’ve enjoyed looking at while I played it, so it did its job.
