Gold Mine is a very elegant game, which is somewhat surprising since it’s themed around gold, which seems the kind of thing that you use to show off, so it’s almost never subtle. You get a very aristocratic look from this Microgaming classic slot, something that you also rarely get to say about 3 reel titles. The reels are tall, encased in red and gold borders, with classic and gold symbols and some mining stuff included as well. There are a lot of things to enjoy about this game, but I’ll talk more about them in the review below.
Despite the presence of 3 reels and 1 line, Gold Mine is an elaborate slot machine, a game you will want to play because of its bonus games and nudge system. Payouts reach only $2,000, but there are other parts of the game that deserve your attention.
Features of Gold Mine
One thing that the game does is the use of nudges, the others being bonus games that can be triggered by the right symbols.
The nudges are shown on the left side of the screen, where you also have the button that allows you to leave the Auto Nudges in the On position. This will nudge the reels into the right position, when it results in a new combo forming up. This is only possible when the symbols you need are one nudge away from the payline, so either on top or below the line. You can leave them to the Auto Nudge setting, or you can take part of that side of the game as well, if you want something extra to do.
The Dynamite bonus game is one part of the slot that will add a bit of excitement to the reels. The presence of three Dynamite symbols will be sufficient to get it triggered.
The Bonus Coin is another feature symbol. Depending on how many appear, you get a number of bonus points which accumulate. One Bonus Coin gets you 10 bonus points, while two will get you 20 points and three will give you 60 bonus points. These bonus points are worth $0.80 each one, and you can see how many you’ve accumulated by looking at the display from the top left corner.
Betting options and jackpots
Gold Mine’s betting system is very easy to understand, since all you need to do is change the value of the single coin that is used. The denomination range is between $0.20 and $10, the same as the bet range.
The paytable tells you how many times the bet value you can get back. Varying between 4x and 200x the bet, the prizes can give you up to $2,000.
Design and symbols
The best part about this game is not the fact that it has some interesting features. There are plenty of classic slots that will offer you that, but there are fewer that will also have a pretty design for you to look at. The reason for the beauty in this case is that they look like they were created for a French palace from a few hundred years ago. There is red and gold used, with beautiful decorations placed everywhere, from the background picture, to the displays, the reel borders or the paytable. The symbols are classics for the most part, the one thing that’s disappointing.
Symbols: Dynamite (bonus), Bonus Coin (bonus), Gold Bars (200x), Golden Bell (40x), Black Three Bar (20x), Red Two Bar (16x), Yellow One Bar (12x), Watermelon (8x), Orange (8x), Lemon (4x) and Cherries (4x).
Is It Worth Playing?
It’s a gorgeous game, and yes, it’s a 3 reel slot machine at the same time. I recommend you try it out if you’re a fan of the classic genre, it’s different from most titles you find these days.
You will find Gold Mine at any online casino which chooses to use software from Microgaming, playable either for free or for real money.
