Golden Goose – Crazy Chameleons Slots

Golden-Goose-Crazy-ChameleonsCrazy Chameleons is one of the four Golden Goose slots that were released by Microgaming. The idea in each one is based on the goose that laid the golden egg, and in this case you actually get a feature that involves said egg (which is as big as the goose). You’re not going to be impressed by the slot’s graphics, but I’ll give it this, at least the features are entertaining and fun to go through.

Whatever bets you decide to make, you have up to 20 lines that you can activate with them, in a 5 reel slot machine. The features are not impressive in the base game, with scatters and wilds, but the bonus game is a lot of fun. Top payouts reach $10,000.

Features of Golden Goose – Crazy Chameleons

Most of the features provided by Crazy Chameleons are typical for modern slot machines, including the scatters and the wilds, but there is also a randomly triggered bonus feature with four different types of games in it.

The wild symbol is a basic feature, a simple symbol that can substitute for another one, as long as it’s not the scatter. A Green Lizard is shown in its image, a chameleon. What the wild can do is related to its ability to act as a joker in a game. Just like it happens in some card games, the wild can be used to take the place of another symbol, so that you can create your combination. The wild has to be in place on the right payline, exactly where it’s needed, otherwise it can’t help. The presence of 3 to 5 Green Chameleons on the same line will trigger their own combo, which pays up to 5,000x.

The Red Chameleon is the second feature of Golden Goose. It’s the scatter symbol, so it works differently from the Green Chameleon. It’s sufficient for these symbols to appear on the reels a minimum of three times, in any random position, and you will get paid between 5 and 400 times the bet value. The 400x prize is impressive, and few slot machines manage to give away that kind of money.

Bonus Game

The bonus game gets triggered at random, at the end of any regular spin, but only if you decided to activate the Golden Goose bet. It adds an additional 50 coins to the wager, so you have to use 250 instead of 200.

When this bonus feature does trigger, you will get one of the four bonus games it has to offer.

The first bonus game asks you to pick a card, to find out how many free spins you’ve won. The reward consists in up to 11 spins and multipliers of up to 6x.

The second bonus game presents you with a screen filled with golden eggs. You pick one egg from each of the five columns, and you win up to 1,000 coins from each one (up to 5,000 coins can be won).

The third bonus game gives you a choice, between the golden egg and a stack of money. The cash reward can give you up to 10,000 coins, while the golden egg can give you a maximum of 50 free spins, with multipliers reaching 3x.

The fourth bonus game is the simplest one, where the goose simply rewards you with a prize of up to 2,000 coins.

Betting options and jackpots

You are free to wager up to $50 in the game, though the regular bet only uses $40 (200 coins). The use of an extra 50 coins (another $10), will trigger the bonus game from time to time. Without the extra bet, you only get the regular scatter and wild symbols. The regular bet is composed of 10 coins per line, for 200 coins total. Denominations go from $0.01 to $0.20, $2 being the line bet.

The rewards take into account the regular line bets, as the extra bets only influence the features, not the prizes. The 5,000x top payout means up to $10,000 cash for the player.

Design and symbols

The design is definitely the weakest part of what the game has to offer. The themed symbols aren’t that bad actually, but the use of five playing cards means that at least half of the screen will be occupied by them, and they are much more colorful and loud than the rest of the symbols. I’m not a huge fan of the more basic drawing style in use here, but it’s not a game that you should be ignoring because of it.

Symbols: Red Chameleon (400x bet, scatter), Green Chameleon (wild, 5,000x), Sun (3,000x), Seagull (2,000x), Swimming Trunks (1,000x), Surfboards (800x), Sun Block (600x), Ace (250x), King (200x), Queen (180x), Jack (120x) and Ten (100x).

Is It Worth Playing?

The four Golden Goose slots are quite similar, so you can decide for yourself which of them you want to try out. This one doesn’t have multipliers for the wilds, but does offer high payouts through the scatter symbol, which is the case only for some of the others. Ultimately, it’s a question whether you like the game’s theme.

You will find Golden Goose – Crazy Chameleons at any online casino which chooses to use software from Microgaming, playable either for free or for real money.
