Playtech decided to tackle the old Egyptian theme once again in The Pyramid of Ramesses, and I’m glad they did that. Despite the large number of already existing Egyptian inspired slot machines, this one feels different and it has its place in this category. They’ve used a different design than most slots and the features look a lot more interesting as well.
You get 25 win lines on 5 reels in this case, with free games, bonus games, scatters and expanding wilds being the features you can count on. You can also hope for a top prize of $15,000.
Features of The Pyramid Of Ramesses
Some of the features which are used here and which make it such a special game would be things like the expanding wilds, the scatter symbols, the free games or the Pyramid bonus game.
The expanded wild has the image of a Scarab on it, a jewel like version where some interesting wings were added to it. This expanding wild has a place on the reels from the centre, so it can only appear on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ones. The main advantage of this symbol is its capability of expanding on the entire reel when it appears somewhere on it. What this gives you is an extra chance to create your combinations. Wilds substitute for all symbols except the Pyramid scatter.
Speaking of the Pyramid scatter symbol, it will be present on at least three reels when it offers you a prize. It will be a cash prize, to which it adds a round of free spins. The prizes vary between 5x and 100x the wager value.
Free Games Feature
Besides the cash prize, you will also receive 15 spins for free when 3+ Pyramids are on the reels. If you get the scatter symbol on the centre three reels as the free spins are being used, then you get access to the Pyramid bonus game.
The Pyramid Bonus Game
When the Pyramid feature is triggered, something which is only possible from within the free spins, you will have to pick one stone from each row of symbols, starting from the bottom one. Each pick brings you a prize, while finding the word Collect will end the feature. If you don’t get the Collect message along the way, and you reach the top stone, you will get a bonus prize of 200x the bet.
Betting options and jackpots
This is not going to be an expensive slot machine to play. You choose the number of active bet lines, and you know that for each one you have to use one coin. The coins have values that only go up to $1, so the largest wager possible is $25.
A 15,000 coins top prize is promised on the paytable, the symbol responsible for it being the one with the Pharaoh.
An alternative would be the progressive jackpot, which needs the same five Pharaohs to be on a line, but also asks that all lines be covered with a wager. You can also use one of four possible wager values, in order to get the jackpot.
Design and symbols
The Pyramid of Ramesses is quite different from the other Egyptian slot machines I’ve seen so far, and I’m actually impressed with it. The symbols are images with characters, scenes or gods from Ancient Egypt. The gods are drawn into stone tablets, while the battle scenes look like they’re drawn for comic books. The reels are black, and you barely see the background image with the interior of the pyramid, something which is used in almost all other slot machines with this theme.
Symbols: Scarab Amulet (wild), Pyramid (scatter, 100x the bet), Pharaoh (15,000 coins), Cleopatra (1,000 coins), Chariot (800 coins), Infantry (800 coins), Cat Goddess (200 coins), Crocodile God (200 coins), Wolf God (150 coins), Bull God (150 coins), Bird God (100 coins) and Eagle God (100 coins).
Is It Worth Playing?
The design is unlike 99% of the slot machines which offer the Ancient Egypt theme, so it’s worth pursuing for that alone. There is also a progressive jackpot and some good features that try and convince you that the slot is a good choice.
The The Pyramid Of Ramesses slot machine is offered through the Playtech platform, so if you want to play it for real or just to practice, look out for casinos that use it.
