Small Soldiers is a game which is themed around war, but with a twist. The actors in this conflict are not regular humans, the world being populated by tiny soldiers, resembling toys more than the real thing. The war theme has been used plenty of times before, so you’re not going to find it an unusual choice, but it is different than most of the slots that have taken the same path. Designed by Saucify, it manages to make war look cute, thanks to the small soldiers that make appearances on some of its symbols.
The slot’s graphics are interesting, while its features include free games, multipliers, scatter symbols, wilds and a bonus game. The symbols appear on the 40 lines of this 5 reel slot, and they can bring you payouts of up to $7,500.
Features of Small Soldiers
The Officer, the Pilot and the Artillery are the three symbols with special powers in Small Soldiers. They act as wilds, as scatters and triggers for bonus games and free spins with multipliers.
We have the Officer first, which looks like the kind of instruction sergeant that will scream at soldiers. Since it’s the wild feature, this symbol can substitute for any other, but only if this gets you a new paying combination. On top of that, if you get a combo with its help, the wild will double the value of the win. That’s not all that the wild can do though. It can also form a combo directly, with wilds only, and it will pay up to 6,000x if it manages to do this.
Free Games Feature
To get the free spins to start, you will need the Pilot scatter in three or more locations at the same time. In exchange, you get 6 spins with 2x multipliers (three scatters), 9 free spins with 3x multipliers (four scatters) or 12 free spins with 4x multipliers (five scatters). The free spins can’t be retriggered.
Target Range Bonus Game
With help from the slot’s second scatter symbol, the Artillery Officer, you can get the bonus game to start up. The minimum number of scattered symbols is three, and the symbols can appear anywhere on the reels.
If the bonus game starts, you are taken to the target range, where you can practice your skills with a gun. You put the aim on the target and you shoot, the aim being to hit as many of them as you can. You can advance to the next level if you do well, where even bigger weapons are available.
The levels you complete give you an award, which is either Good (Expert), Excellent (Sharp Shooter) or Outstanding (Marksman).
Betting options and jackpots
There are a couple of choices that you have to make here. You decide the number of active lines first. Next, you pick how many coins the line bets should have, the maximum being 5. Those coins have values of their own, between $0.01 and $0.25, so you can wager up to $1.25 per line, or $50 total for all 40 lines.
If the wild symbol is the one that forms a combo of five, then you are offered 6,000x the line bet, meaning $7,500 at most.
Design and symbols
The game being themed around war, the reels and the background are filled with appropriate images. The military base is shown behind the reels, with barbwire fences, with buildings and a flag pole. The symbols on the reels are with the small soldiers, with their military hardware and some poker cards which have various military objects next to them.
Symbols: Officer (wild, 6,000x), Artillery (100x bet, scatter), Pilot (100x bet, scatter), Infantry (3,000x), Medic (1,000x), Plane (500x), Helicopter (400x), Tank (300x), Jeep (100x), Dogtags (75x), Helmet (50x), Pack (30x) and Bottle (20x).
Is It Worth Playing?
It’s not your typical war themed slot machine, and I believe it’s different enough to be worth pursuing. That, plus its features are complete, giving you pretty much everything you could expect from a modern game.
The Small Soldiers slot machine is offered through the Saucify platform, so if you want to play it for real or just to practice, look out for casinos that use it.
